# SEO audit overview

Track pages, read their scores and fixes, follow history and compare with competitor pages.

Open SEO audit in the app, pick a verified website on an active plan and add the pages you want to track (for example your homepage, service pages and top landing pages). The first audit runs straight away; after that each page is re-audited weekly by default. Choose daily (Scale and above), weekly, monthly or off per page.

## What's checked

- Title and description: present, length (30–60 and 70–160 characters), one of each, and not duplicated across your tracked pages.
- Headings: one H1 with text, H2 sections on longer pages, levels in order.
- Indexing: HTTP status, robots meta tag and X-Robots-Tag header (noindex, nofollow), canonical (present, single, points to the page), hreflang (valid codes, includes the page), redirects and the lang attribute.
- Social previews: title, description, image and URL preview tags, and a large-image card tag.
- Structured data: types found, blocks that can't be parsed and missing required properties for common types (Article, Product, Organization, LocalBusiness, FAQPage, HowTo, BreadcrumbList, Event, Recipe, Review, VideoObject and more).
- Images: alt attributes, width and height, lazy loading, and images over 200 KB from a sample of 8.
- Links: internal and external counts, vague anchor text, and broken links from a sample of up to 20 (at most one request per other website).
- Content: word count and reading ease (for English pages).
- Keyword usage: for each search term linked to the page, whether it appears in the title, H1, description, URL and first 100 words, how often, and density.
- HTTPS: served over HTTPS, resources loaded over plain HTTP, and a Strict-Transport-Security header.
- Speed, weight and caching: server response time, HTML size, compression and Cache-Control.
- Mobile: a viewport tag using device-width that doesn't disable zoom.
- Answer engines: FAQ and HowTo markup, question-style headings with a concise answer (20–120 words) underneath, and lists or tables.

## Scores and priorities

Each of the 13 categories starts at 100 and loses 40 for a critical issue, 15 for a warning and 5 for a notice. The page score is the weighted average (indexing and title/description weigh most). Recommendations are sorted by severity, then by category weight, and each one says how to fix it. A page that returns an error or is set to noindex scores 0 for indexing.

## Search terms used

Keyword checks use your SERP search terms whose target URL is the page, plus terms our runs saw the page ranking for in the last 60 days. Competitor pages are checked against your page's terms.

## History and diffs

The page view charts the score over time and lists what was fixed and what's new since the previous audit. Pick any earlier audit in the history table to compare it with the latest.

## Competitor comparison

Suggestions are pages from other websites that ranked in the top 20 for the page's search terms in the results our runs captured over the last 30 days. Add a suggestion or paste any public URL. Competitor pages are audited with the same checks (re-audited monthly by default) and shown side by side: score, word count, sections, structured data types, FAQ and HowTo markup, question headings, internal and external links, images, lists and tables, reading ease, response time and size. “Enhance ours” turns the gaps into recommendations, such as structured data most of them use, sections they cover (with their headings for ideas), FAQs, depth and internal linking.

## Limits

- Tracked pages per website: Starter 10, Growth 25, Scale 75, Pro 150, Business 300, Enterprise 1,000.
- Competitor pages per tracked page: 2, 3, 5, 5, 8, 10.
- On-demand audits (button or API) per page: once every 24 hours, 12 hours, 6 hours, 3 hours, 1 hour, 30 minutes.
- Audits per website per day (UTC): 10, 25, 75, 150, 300, 1,000.
- Audits per website per month: 100, 300, 1,000, 2,500, 5,000, 15,000, of which competitor audits: 20, 60, 200, 500, 1,000, 3,000.
- Audits running at once per website: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8.
- Scheduled audits and the first audit of a new page count towards the daily and monthly totals but not the per-page cooldown. Failed audits don't count.
- Every limit is checked in one step when an audit starts, so two clicks or API calls at once can't go over. When a limit applies, the app and API say which one and when the next audit is allowed.

## Notifications, webhooks, export and API

- In-app: Settings → Notifications → SEO audits (score drops of 5 points or more, finished and failed scheduled audits).
- Webhooks: audit.completed (every finished audit, with score, previous score and fixed/new counts) and audit.score_dropped (your page's score fell 5 points or more, with the new issue keys).
- CSV: tracked pages with scores and schedules; per page, the prioritised issues and the audit history.
- Print / save as PDF from the page view for a clean report.
- API: GET /api/v1/projects/{id}/seo, GET /api/v1/seo/pages/{id}, GET|POST /api/v1/seo/pages/{id}/audits, GET /api/v1/seo/audits/{id}.

Audits read the HTML your server returns; content added only by scripts in the browser isn't counted. Results describe the page at the time of the audit.
