Broken links · live

Find broken links before your visitors do.

A daily or weekly crawl of your site that flags pages returning errors, links to pages that are gone, missing images and redirect chains or loops, with the page each one sits on so you can fix it fast.

En bref

Broken links crawls each website on a schedule with the same polite crawler as SEO audits. It flags internal pages answering 4xx or 5xx, links to other sites that are gone, images that fail to load, and redirects that take more than one hop or loop. Every issue shows the page it was found on, when it was first and last seen, and when it was fixed. Alerts go to the notification bell, webhooks and Workflows.

Pourquoi Broken links

Le problème
Pages move, products sell out and other sites reorganise. Each change can leave links that lead nowhere, images that never load and redirects that bounce visitors and crawlers through several addresses.
Avec Broken links
Broken links crawls your site for you, lists each problem with the page it sits on, and tells you when new ones appear and when old ones are fixed.

Comment ça marche

De la configuration aux résultats, étape par étape

  1. 01

    Pick a schedule

Broken links is on for every website. Choose a daily or weekly crawl, or switch the schedule off and run crawls yourself.

  2. 02

    We crawl like a visitor

Starting at your home page we follow your own links, respect robots.txt and check each link and image we find with a light request.

  3. 03

    See what broke

Issues are grouped by type with the status code, the page they were found on and, for redirects, every hop in the chain.

  4. 04

    Fix and confirm

Update the link or redirect, then run a crawl. Fixed issues close on their own and new ones raise an alert.

Fonctionnalités

À l’intérieur de Broken links

Broken pages and links

Internal pages answering 404, 410 or a server error, listed with every page that links to them.

Links to other sites

Outbound links are checked too, so you hear when a page you cite moves or disappears.

Missing images

Images that fail to load, on your own site or a third party, flagged with the page they appear on.

Redirect chains and loops

Redirects that take more than one hop, or never land, shown hop by hop so you can point links at the final address.

Daily or weekly, on its own

Pick a schedule per website and run a crawl yourself after a release. Fixed issues close on the next crawl.

Alerts and Workflows

New issues reach the notification bell, signed webhooks and Workflows, so a fix can start without anyone checking a dashboard.

Questions

FAQ Broken links

How does the crawl work?

We start at your home page and follow your own links, with an honest user agent and your robots.txt respected. Links to other sites and images are checked with a light request, and pages are never filled in or clicked.

What counts as a redirect chain?

A link that takes more than one redirect to reach its final page. A redirect that returns to an address it already visited, or never lands, is reported as a loop.

Why isn't a link to another site flagged?

Some sites refuse automated requests or ask them to slow down. Those answers aren't treated as broken, so you only see links that are really gone.

When is an issue marked fixed?

When the page it was found on is crawled again and the problem is no longer there.

How many pages are crawled?

It depends on your website's plan, as shown in the table on this page. If a site is larger, the crawl stops at the allowance and the crawl history says so.

Can I run a crawl straight away?

Yes. Press Run crawl now on the Broken links page. Each plan includes a number of manual crawls per day, with a short pause between them.

Stop sending visitors to dead ends.

Open Broken links for a website and see what the first crawl finds.
