Structured data
Structured data describes the page in a machine-readable vocabulary: an Article, a Product, a LocalBusiness, an FAQPage. Valid markup with the required properties can make a page eligible for richer listings. It must describe content that's visible on the page.
Images
- Describe each meaningful image with alt text; decorative images can have empty alt.
- Set width and height so the layout doesn't jump while it loads.
- Lazy-load images below the fold and compress large files.
Internal links
Links between your own pages help crawlers discover content and show which pages matter most. Use descriptive anchor text ("emergency boiler repair") rather than "click here", and link from strong pages to the ones you want to rank.
Replace vague anchors with the words a searcher would use.
- "Click here" → "emergency boiler repair"
- "Read more" → "how we price boiler servicing"
- Link from your strongest pages, such as the home page, to the page you want to rank.
